COPC-Sponsored Classes

COPC sponsored courses afford students valuable training emphasizing professional skils development. Students master skills by using them to fill the program gaps in local community-based organizations. For example, in COPC’s grant writing class, students learn to write proposals while actually working on grants which benefit local non-profits.

COPC sponsored a "Planning Practicum" course during the 2010-11 academic term, which afforded fifty 2nd year students in the Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) Program an opportunity to hear from planning practitioners and obtain real-world professional experience in team problem-solving approaches in planning. The two quarter course examined neighborhood and regional planning concerns and provided community leaders pragmatic ideas for achieving neighborhood improvements in Santa Ana, CA, and advancing efforts at regional connectivity in Orange County developments.

Planning Practicum in Winter Quarter 2011

The focus of this course was on regional planning and asked students to analyze developments in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Irvine, and Santa Ana to determine their prospects for serving at the "downtown" area for Orange County.
